The Avalanches – Since I Left You

I don’t often buy CDs, but over the summer I kept hearing one song on XFM.

It was rather catchy. A mixture of vocal clips, sounding like they were taken from old movies and things of that nature.

"That boy needs therapy."

"You’re a nut! You’re as crazy as a coconut!"

After some hunting it transpired it was by The Avanlanches and called Frontier Psychiatrist.

They Seek Him Here, They Seek Him There!

After some months of hunting it down, I finally found the album in HMV. Released in 2000, nothing else on Since I Left You is anything like Frontier Psychiatrist, but that doesn’t matter because the whole album is simply wonderful.

The 18 track album runs continusly as one track mixes into another. It’s extremely hard to describe, but it’s a wonderfully relaxing album, yet it’s music isn’t exactly what you’d call mood music.

You’ll find it in the dance music section more than likely, but it’s well worth tracking down. The title track which opens the album, and was also one of the singles, just puts you in the perfect frame of mind – tranquility!
