More BBCi Page Numbers

Less than a month (just!) after BBCi launched page numbers on satellite, at around 4:20 today, they went up on the DTT/Freeview version as well!

Page numbers on Freeview

The concept is pretty much the same as the satellite version, with a few minor changes here and there due to the differences in technology.

One of the biggest differences is the way the index 'animates' as you scroll down the list of sections. It looks all very nice and deliberate, but I'll let you into a secret. It's accidental.

Basically the index page is very complex for the boxes to draw, so they do it very slowly (well in comparison to everything else!) so it draws each box at a time, this making it look like they're animating down on the page! Well if you get animation by accident, don't complain.

And even better, someone entering 302 on a decent (ie less than two years old) DTT set top box, should be able to get Football just as quick on BBCi as they would on Ceefax! Result!
