Screenshot Puzzle

Posted on 29 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

Staying on a BBCi theme, some random lunchtime surfing found me on Sky Digi Online, a site covering news about Sky and associated channels and services, who had a piece about BBCi, with a rather puzzling screenshot.

There’s No I In Team (BBCi Freeview Rebrand)

Posted on 29 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

Over the last few weeks we’ve been steadily rolling out the new rebranded BBCi, and today it got to stop three - Freeview. And that launch, along with the others, wouldn’t have happened if there hadn’t been a good team of people working away on it.

Ikea Madness

Posted on 28 March 2005 in House (No comments yet - be the first!)

For the nine months of so we have lived in our house, it’s been a bit ramshackle. The living room for example, was an awful mix of random tables, styles, colours and cables.

Post Launch Mayhem

Posted on 24 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

On Tuesday, the old launch seemed to have gone reasonably smoothly. Yesterday and today on the other hand…

BBCi Rebrand Goes Satellite

Posted on 22 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

It’s pretty hard to celebrate something when at the same time all is doom and gloom thanks to redundancies, budget cuts and so on. So internally, the relaunch of BBCi on satellite probably wasn’t on the cusp of many peoples minds. But relaunch we did, and I got to write another email to tell everyone how wonderful they are.

Work, Job Cuts, etc

In case you’re wondering - and I’m sure someone will ask if I don’t mention it.

Billboards, Colliers Wood and writetothem.com

Posted on 21 March 2005 in Politics and Government (No comments yet - be the first!)

So here I was, wondering whether to fax my MP about the fact that not only is Colliers Wood blighted with a huge number of billboards (I walk past at least thirteen in a ten minute walk to the tube station) but some muppet has given the goahead by the looks of it, for another two.

Views and Windows

Posted on 20 March 2005 in Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

I went down to the fourth floor at work to have the old weekly line management chat, and well the view from their windows - superb.

What Would Be Nice…

Posted on 17 March 2005 in Entertainment (No comments yet - be the first!)

There are some things in life that I just wish were true for me.

Coincidences in the Signed Department

Posted on 17 March 2005 in Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

The frankly spooky coincidence about signed TV programme listings.

Good Commute, Bad Commute

Posted on 14 March 2005 in Transport (No comments yet - be the first!)

I have decided that my commute in a morning can be either very good or very bad. There is no inbetween state. Just very good and very bad.

BBCi Rebrand Comments

Posted on 13 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

Whenever we launch something at work, I like to have a look around and see what people are saying - hoping of course that it’s good feedback!

Singles, Space and the Compilation

Posted on 13 March 2005 in Music (No comments yet - be the first!)

I’ve been slowly digitising many of the singles I haven’t heard for years. It’s been quite a wonderful process - there’s 600 odd singles I haven’t listened to for goodness knows how long.

Boooooooooop

Posted on 9 March 2005 in Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

Due to industrial action, the author is currently waving pieces of paper around and thinking of interesting things to say. Normal programmes will resume shortly.

BBCi Rebrand Hits Telewest

Posted on 8 March 2005 in BBC red button, Interactive TV (No comments yet - be the first!)

It’s all change to BBCi as we relaunch on Telewest with a new look and a new logo. Warning - contains several large images!

Searching The Memories

Posted on 7 March 2005 in BBC, Internet, Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

Was it really 2001 that I spent months working away on the new, amazing BBCi web search?

A Day At Work

Posted on 7 March 2005 in Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

Don’t you just love those days when you’re in the middle of writing a long, pretty tedious document that you just want to get out of the bloomin’ way, and then the shared drive where the file sits, dies. In fact it’s the shared drive with all your documents on it, meaning there’s actually very little work you can do?

Bent Travel

Posted on 6 March 2005 in Transport (No comments yet - be the first!)

There’s a point in everyones life where they leave something important in their trousers when they’re bunged in a washing machine, which is why my Oystercard now has a noticeable bent in it.

Jamie’s School Dinners

Posted on 2 March 2005 in Food and Drink, TV Programmes (No comments yet - be the first!)

Watching it and seeing the processed crap that kids get served at school… well I’m not particularly impressed.

Google, Yahoo and an API

Posted on 1 March 2005 in Internet, Planet Bods (No comments yet - be the first!)

I know, I know. I’m behind the times. But the announcement that Yahoo were opening up APIs to its search engine got me thinking that I could finally replace the Atomz search on this site, with something that doesn’t force me to have crummy ads on it.
