No Satellite Signal 3

Should you be wondering - unlikely I know - but no, I still don’t have satellite television.

Thanks

So I’d like to say a big thank you to the person who, at some point, walked to the end of my drive, lifted up the purple recycling box, removed the green recycling box from underneath it, took out a newspaper and some other bits of paper from the green box, put them in the purple box, put the purple box back, and then scarpered with my green recycling box.

Iceland 2005 (Day 4)

Posted on 20 September 2005 in Travel and Holidays (No comments yet - be the first!)

On 19 August 2005 Catherine and myself flew out to Iceland for a ten night touring holiday round Iceland. We drove round the country and saw many an exciting and interesting thing. This is one of many blog posts about that holiday - this particular post is about day four, where we’d drive from the top middle of the island, to the middle right. And see some sights on the way.

No Satellite Signal 2

The trauma of Sunday where I spent far too long nudging my satellite dish is still in my mind, especially when various Googling and discussions at work did suggest it might be a problem with the LNB (that’s the prong that sticks out of the dish) but before I started buying new satellite bits, or calling up people to check things, I thought it would be worth just checking the box on someone else’s satellite dish.

No Satellite Signal

When we moved into this house, I was rather delighted to find a satellite dish on the side. After some time I got a cheap second hand set top box for it, then a remote. Before going on holiday, I finally got a viewing card too.

On 19 August 2005 Catherine and myself flew out to Iceland for a ten night touring holiday round Iceland. We drove round the country and saw many an exciting and interesting thing. This is one of many blog posts about that holiday - this particular post is about day three, which was spent around Lake Mývatn and was probably one of our busiest days.

Hurray Hedgehog

Posted on 14 September 2005 in Life (No comments yet - be the first!)

I seem to recall recently, hearing a report on Today about how hedgehogs are becoming rarer. I’ve certainly never seen one. Foxes yes, Hedgehogs no. Until tonight.

BBCi Happenings

Posted on 14 September 2005 in BBC red button (No comments yet - be the first!)

Last week we launched our biggest ever project - a project that had taken years to get from start to finish. In fact it’s not even finished, as we’ve so far, we’ve only launched on satellite. And you know what hurts after all that hard work? No one - not one person - outside the organisation noticed.

Movable Type 3.2

Posted on 8 September 2005 in Planet Bods (No comments yet - be the first!)

Finally decided to leave the world of Movable Type v2.661 behind and embrace the world of version 3.2. It has a nicer interface after all, and plugins are good.

Working At Home

Posted on 8 September 2005 in Work (No comments yet - be the first!)

I’m working at home today, which is something I don’t normally do as I find it rather boring being stuck in the house by myself, and I usually end up missing about 15 important files that I can’t access as I’m working via webmail alone.

Brief Feed Apology

Posted on 5 September 2005 in Planet Bods (No comments yet - be the first!)

Quick apology for anyone on the full text feed - I managed to break it when I reinstalled by PC last week, and I’ve only just noticed. It should be fixed now and the person responsible flogged as punishment.

I’m rather saddened to hear via the old currybet.net, of the death of the bbc.co.uk Big Red Button.
