Success Criteria

A month ago I blogged about a project we’d launched on BBCi on Satellite where the result would be that the average user wouldn’t have been able to tell the difference between what was there before, and what was there now.

This was also the aim for the DTT (Freeview) version of the project which quietly launched last week. Obviously it didn’t quite meet the success criteria, as there’s now a list on Digital Spy which covers the various changes which have been made either intentionally, or inadvertently as part of that project!

You just can’t get some things past some people – even something as tiny as our "More" and "Previous" links changing to be all lowercase rather than mixed case. In case you’re wondering, there’s no real reason why that happened. It just did. Hey, what are you going to do?

Whilst I’m on about various work things, a sad wave goodbye to the last bastion of Liquid News. The small celebs news video update on the satellite version of BBCi had been hanging on ever since the parent programme was axed from BBC Three in 2004, but on Monday, 17 October 2005, it was laid to rest.

In its place, a new Entertainment News service, with a wider remit involving films, theatre and the arts. But some things do remain – the Liquid News theme tune is still used, ableit in a truncated form.
