Entries from August 2007

29 August 2007: France 2007 Day 6: Abriès to Aiguilles
After a days rest, it was back to the hills again, enjoying the slightly spooky empty hamlet, a big climb, a lovely lake and a long descent.
25 August 2007: France 2007 Day 5: L’Echalp to Abriès
With dodgy knees to relax, it was time for a nice, simple, but very beautiful walk along the river. Plus, of course, a quick look at the fantastic Mount Viso.
18 August 2007: France 2007 Day 4: St-Véran to Molines
With the rain left behind, it was up a hill, then down again to our next stop. Fantastic views, beautiful scenery and… err… painful legs…
18 August 2007: What are you looking at?
I hadn’t actually loaded up Google Analytics for a while, so I thought I’d pop in and have a look at how everything on Planet Bods is fairing. Not that I’m hugely fussed generally about hits - it’s just nice to watch them over time stay, well, pretty much the same.
15 August 2007: New Category Feeds!
Something I’ve been meaning to do for goodness knows how long, is now done. If you wish to subscribe to posts from particular categories in this blog, rather than the full thing, you now can.
15 August 2007: GE Money: Ditching me before I ditch them
After all the hassle recently with GE Money, my gut reaction was to close my credit card with them straight away. In the end I decided to give their complaints department the benefit of the doubt and see what happened before taking a final decision. As it happens, they’ve decided to ditch me before I ditch them.
12 August 2007: France 2007 Day 3: Ceillac to St-Véran
It’s day three, and time to leave the Hôtel La Cascade. The Col Fromage beckons, followed by the Col des Estronques. Oh and the pretty village of St-Véran.
10 August 2007: New TV
The new TV has arrived which is good - watching episodes on Futurama on your laptop PC just isn’t the same if you ask me. It’s an IDTV - integrated with digital. I did contemplate going for a cheaper model without the digital element (actually in the clearence range) but due to delivery issues (i.e. they couldn’t tell me when it would be delivered), decided to get the digital one. Analogue TVs are getting harder and harder to find now - and it has to be said, rightly so.
7 August 2007: No Beer and no TV make Bods something something…
What happened to the days when things lasted? I’m sure they existed. I remember owning a TV for about 12 years - and it got transported around the country a few times to boot… Sadly it doesn’t seem to happen very often any more. Just two months short of being five years old, and my TV has decided to give up the ghost.
6 August 2007: Portrayl and Accuracy
One of the things I try to do on this website when reviewing or commenting on anything, is to give an accurate reflection of an experience at the time I saw it. I don’t believe in being nasty, or badly reviewing anything unnecessarily. And yes, I’ve said a few bad things about certain places before now. Anyone who ever had the chore of reading my comments on Freeserve or GE Money will know that.
6 August 2007: France 2007 Day 2: Walking Around Ceillac
It’s 22 July 2007 and time for the first walk of our walking holiday in the Queyras region of France. This days walk - a circular walk of the hills and lakes around Ceillac.
3 August 2007: France 2007 Day 1: Travelling… Oh So Much Travelling…
On 21 July 2007, we headed on a multitude of trains towards the Queyras Alps in France. This is part one of that holiday.
