31 December 2007: Top 20 Archive Posts Viewed in 2007
Following on from the top 20 posts of 2007, I had a look at what posts prior to 2007 were still making it big, big time.
31 December 2007: Kevin Greening
The news that former Radio 1 Kevin Greening has died in his sleep, aged 44, is news that fills me with sadness. I have been a big fan of his since hearing him on his early weekend shows on Radio 1 in the early 1990s.
30 December 2007: Top Twenty Posts of 2007
Well everyone else is doing it, so why shouldn’t I? (And no, if Martin and James jumped off a cliff, I…
29 December 2007: I Knead the Bread
I never really liked the standard white sliced. Too factory-made, too plastic. Bland, boring, soggy. A far cry from what our neighbours across the channel do where popping to the bakery for a fresh baguette is a standard thing.
28 December 2007: Well I’m not moving - the problems caused by ignoring train seat reservations
Travelling by train around Christmas time is never particularly fun. Suitcases are often on the large side, and daytime trains are the domain of people dashing off across the country on mammoth treks. And importantly, trains are often full, with people standing left right and centre.
19 December 2007: Rambling reminiscences of building the BBC’s website
Anyone reading the BBC Internet Blog will have noticed a flurry of posts celebrating the 10th aniversary of bbc.co.uk. All the reminiscing has, to be honest, got me reminising about my old memories of working on the BBC website
19 December 2007: All aboard the gravy train to Salford!
On Tuesday, the front page of the BBC staff newspaper, Ariel, was devoted to the relocation package on offer for staff affected by the BBC’s move to Salford. Basically it’s quite a good package in some respects, mainly because the one thing the BBC is not going to want to do is start several departments completely from scratch when they move them from the glamorous world of London’s W12.
18 December 2007: Fairy Tale of Censorship
Well Radio 1’s decision to censor The Pogues’ Fairytale of New York has now been reversed now, but sometimes I just want to throw a dictionary at some people.
15 December 2007: Deck the blog with boughs of baubles, fa la la la la, la la la la!
But regardless, it’s that time of year when the old website gets its Christmas finery - with some new, seasonal graphics. And baubles.
11 December 2007: The new BBC Homepage - a bit like myBBC then
Lots of people have blogged about it - with comments ranging from celebrating about the lack of the bbc.co.uk logo, and celebrating that lovely retro clock. So here’s my bit.
8 December 2007: Coffin’ heckers like
Anyone watching Have I Got News For You last night might remember a picture involving a coffin at a bus stop…
6 December 2007: GNER website relaunches just days before disappearing forever
In a slightly curious move, it appears that GNER relaunched their website on Monday. For those not that well up on the comings and goings of railway companies, the reason that this launch is rather curious is that it comes just days before GNER will cease to exist - the company will run its last train on Friday.
4 December 2007: Building BBCi on Freesat
I don’t know what anyone else thought, but when I read that bit of the Freesat FAQ about interactive content on Freesat, I thought that the author was being just a little cagey - that they weren’t really telling me much.
