Humpf

I can’t be the only one to be sad at the news that the wonderful Humphrey Lyttelton has sadly died.

Like many, I knew Humpf from his chairmanship of the wonderful I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue on BBC Radio 4 when I was introduced to the programme at university.

His sense of timing and delivery of lines on the show meant I was frequently in hysterics when tuning in. Who can forget his masterful delivery of innuendos involving Lionel Blair and Give Us A Clue which frequently had the audience stunned, shocked and then shortly after, in complete hysterics.

Plus he apparently played the trumped very well.

Humpf may have died, but his legend will live in repeats of Clue on the wonderful BBC7. I have absolutely no doubt that he will be still entertaining a whole new generation in 50 years time.

And perhaps we should have a minutes kazoo and swany whistle blowing in his memory.
