In a piece from the Evening Standard, Christian Wolmar discusses why, even in this current climate, bus and tube fares in London will just have to go up. Will be interesting to see how the Mayor of London tries to sell this move to his voters.

Hmm. I wondered why, two weeks on, a parcel still hadn’t been delivered. And Catherine said that the other day we had two deliveries – one at 4:50. My replacement contact lenses are three weeks late, and yesterday we were advised to wait "72 hours" before popping to the delivery office in order to pick up something that the postman "couldn’t" deliver (probably the aforementioned contact lenses…) But hey, if it saves some money and means stamp prices don’t have to go up, I’m all for this lack of service!
