The ten worst railway stations (rated on customer satisfaction rating levels) in the UK are to get some cash spent on them. The list includes the frankly awful Clapham Junction (bad mainly because it’s hopelessly overcrowded) but what surprises me is that seven of the list are all in the North West – Manchester Victoria, Crewe, Stockport, Warrington Bank Quay, Preston, Wigan North Western and Liverpool Central. Are Northerners just more likely to be downbeat and moan? Or has the North West’s railway stations just been completely ignored by the train operators?
