Was out jogging in Morden Hall Park on Sunday and briefly jogged on the road near Morden's former Woolies, now branded "Timmy WorthIt!" (by cunningly putting a canvas logo over the old Woolies fascia.) Would the owners of Timmy WorthIt! be interested in joining in with a new franchised "back from the dead" Woolies operation? Well pretty much all they'd need to do is remove the new signs...

It seemed that the huge cull of the high street was long over. Then First Quench went down and the whole thing started again. And it looks like Borders could well be next. There's been a feeling of inevitability on this one ever since they sold off a load of flagship stores and began the shutdown process for its Books Etc chain. And if Borders goes... well who will be next?

I always thought the Beeb were mad not to come up with a role for Moira Stuart at the time - there was bound to be somewhere she could have slotted in quite nicely. Of course, maybe they did and it never went anywhere, although if that was the case I would have expected someone to have said at the time...
