I haven't rented for years, however this could be a rather interesting site to many as it shows average rents in London. I suspect it doesn't really have the granularity it needs to be truly useful - there's roads near me that are extremely expensive for example - however it's a start.

Another dose of Christian Wolmar, but don't worry - this is from the Independent's archives - from June 1993 to be exact. It's one of those pieces you read and go "thank goodness they never did that". The main reason London has a far superior public transport infrastructure than anywhere else in the UK is because it never allowed a free for all on the buses - yet in 1993 such a thing was being contemplated. Also of interest in the piece is Stephen Norris talking about "smart card technology" - it would take many more years before the Oystercard reached the public.
