- 27 June 2008: Dear Curry’s
- Thank you Curry’s. You have reminded me why I don’t do much of my electronic based shopping in stores any more. It makes me annoyed. You have made what should be a pleasant experience, a plain awful one. You have made me annoyed.
- 30 April 2008: The completed quest for an £8 refunded
- Turns out that in the end, the £8 had never been refunded to the credit card in the first place - they’d refunded it as a gift certificate instead, mainly as the original purchase had been mostly gift certificate based.
- 25 April 2008: The never ending quest for an £8 refund
- I have an internet retailer that wants a fax, and a bank who don’t know what paper is.
- 23 March 2008: TV/Broadband/Phone together - reviewing the options
- What is the market like in the UK for bundled packages of TV/phone/broadband? Could I go start bundling my TV, broadband and phone and save some cash?
- 6 February 2008: The £1.99 Chicken - Hugh and Jamie must have made an impact
- Whatever your view on chicken welfare, there’s obviously something going on in the market place. Demand for free range and organic chicken is clearly up. And demand for cheap chicken is bound to have gone down.
- 15 November 2007: At the Tesco Self Service Till at White City this morning
- Please place your item in the bagging area
- 15 August 2007: GE Money: Ditching me before I ditch them
- After all the hassle recently with GE Money, my gut reaction was to close my credit card with them straight away. In the end I decided to give their complaints department the benefit of the doubt and see what happened before taking a final decision. As it happens, they’ve decided to ditch me before I ditch them.
- 10 August 2007: New TV
- The new TV has arrived which is good - watching episodes on Futurama on your laptop PC just isn’t the same if you ask me. It’s an IDTV - integrated with digital. I did contemplate going for a cheaper model without the digital element (actually in the clearence range) but due to delivery issues (i.e. they couldn’t tell me when it would be delivered), decided to get the digital one. Analogue TVs are getting harder and harder to find now - and it has to be said, rightly so.
- 7 August 2007: No Beer and no TV make Bods something something…
- What happened to the days when things lasted? I’m sure they existed. I remember owning a TV for about 12 years - and it got transported around the country a few times to boot… Sadly it doesn’t seem to happen very often any more. Just two months short of being five years old, and my TV has decided to give up the ghost.
- 31 July 2007: GE Money - incompetance and downright lies
- I came back from holiday to find my July credit card bill from GE Money. Not an amazing occurrence - such things happen all the time. This time was different for it featured a “Late Payment Charge” and a wad of interest. Which rather annoyed me, because I’d just set up a direct debit for the account so that every month, the full balance would be paid off. When it comes to credit cards, I’m the annoying person that the banks hate because I always - and I mean always - pay off my bill.
- 4 March 2007: Ditching the VHS tapes (or, getting a new Humax PVR)
- A couple of weeks ago, I invested in a PVR - one of those digital video recorder things. It had been bubbling in my mind for a while, especially as I seemed to have a never ending pile of VHS tapes floating around the room with stuff on them, that had to be watched in strict order lest anything get missed.
- 14 July 2006: Beep beep beep
- Only a complete simpleton would put the stuff they’re trying to steel right in front of the cashier in the first place.
- 16 June 2006: Alliance and Leicester - so incompetant, you can’t leave them…
- Well it’s been over a year since my last rant about the Alliance and Leicester’s incompetance, and you may be glad that this will be the last one ever. For today the last accounts were closed.
- 18 January 2006: Walsh Western Hopelessness (part 2)
- I’d like to say I got a coherent excuse for not getting my PC delivered, but whoeever it was that I spoke to at the “delightful” Walsh Western had the worlds worst phone line possible, and about the only coherent thing I got out of the conversation was a question about whether I have a brown door. Quite why, who knows, cos every time I tried to get anything useful, I ended up on hold.
- 17 January 2006: Non-Delivery
- Well it’s 21:42 and still no PC.
- 27 April 2005: Alliance and Leicester - so incompetant you can’t even open an account with them
- So the debit card has been cut, and the cheque book shredded. And that was before my current account transfer had been even completed to them.
- 9 April 2005: You Cannot Put a Chicken On Your Head
- Don’t you just love it when you contact a provider and say "Why am I not able to do this? What’s the logic in not being able to do it? It makes no sense."
- 6 April 2005: Alliance and Leicester Internet Banking
- Well I’ve used the internet banking services of a few banks so far, and none of them come close to sucking as much as Alliance and Leicester - they’re have become a shining example of how to frustrate and annoy at least one user. Me.
- 19 June 2004: Need a professional logo?
- lodosinternational.co.uk proudly boasts that Turkish electrical equipment manufacturer Lodos is "Exceeding expectations in the home electronics industry"
- 17 June 2004: Bye Bye GDB3, Hello DT210F
- So after it being initially perfect and then very bad indeed, my Goodmans GDB3 DTT (Freeview) set top box went back to Argos last night.
- 9 June 2004: Set Top Box Woe
- Last September I bought (and raved about) a new Goodmans GDB3 set top box. It was a good box. Until a few months ago…
- 31 May 2004: Bods ‘uses’ mycokemusic.com
- Well you can’t beat a sequel sometimes, so to follow up ‘Bods Tries To Use mycokemusic.com’, here is Bods ‘uses’ mycokemusic.com! And what an ‘experience’ it was…
- 26 January 2004: Bods tries to use myCokeMusic.com
- I’ve read a lot about myCokeMusic.com - yet another bandwagon jumping music download site - so I thought I’d try it out. And this being my blog, I’d better tell you how it went…
- 15 September 2003: Goodmans Digital Box (or how to impress a potential customer).
- I’ve got a new digital set top box. It’s great. But the customer service is even better.
- 12 September 2003: Electric Phones
- When is a 24 hour phone line not a 24 hour phone line?
- 7 September 2003: CD Copy ‘protection’
- Record company attempts to tide the stem of illegal downloading of MP3s, will do little more than increase it.
- 29 August 2003: Fopp-tastic
- Fopp are a small chain of wondeful record stores who manage to persuade me to part with money far too easily…
- 21 August 2003: Dysfunctional Electricity Company Websites
- Changing electricity supplier revealed some appalling bad corporate websites from the giants of the electric industry.
- 11 August 2003: Carrier Bag Madness
- From amazingly small to ridiculously big! When will they get the right size carrier bags at Sainsbury’s in South Ealing?
- 7 August 2003: Ugh. Hot.
- It’s hot. Yesterday was the hotest day in London ever. Even worse, we have no fan in the flat and Argos are too busy flogging models of Father Christmas with flashing lights.
- 4 July 2003: The Mysteriously Small Carrier Bag.
- The (rather pointless) mystery of the amazingly small Sainsburys carrier bag.
- 15 June 2003: I want my Doc Martens!
- DMs are great boots. So why is it so hard to find them?
- 22 May 2003: So long Hyde Music Centre, and thanks for all the CDs.
- Better late than never - a tribute to my old indie music shop, Hyde Music Centre.
- 4 January 2003: I’ve Got The Power?
- Switching electricity companies is supposed to take less than a month. So why did it take one company I tried over eight months?
- 23 October 2002: Sweet Madness.
- Same company, two shops, 4 minutes apart. Same prices on the same product? You’d think so….
- 11 August 2002: Ocado
- Online grocery shopping the way it should be.
