- 30 June 2004: Tube Strikes
- You know, I’d actually have some sympathy with the tube strike today if I actually believed in what they were striking for. But when they’re striking after being offered a 6.75% pay rise over two years and the promise to ensure they work a five day week, well all you can think to say is ‘gready f***ers’.
- 28 June 2004: Henman or News?
- Coverage of Tim Henman playing tennis means digital viewers wishing to get regional news viewers in England are told to go back to analogue…
- 22 June 2004: What I Did Last Night
- Following on from some conversations at work and just in case you’re wondering, no I did not watch England vs Croatia last night with the rest of the country (well a third of the country if we believe the ratings). Instead I did someone that was actually useful.
- 20 June 2004: The Sultan, Colliers Wood
- When you move into a new area, it’s natural to try out the local pubs, and pretty much as soon as you stand outside you form views about the various pubs and as to whether you’d like to go in again.. So if you walked into The Sultan and just looked at it, you’d be forgiven for standing there in wonder, and instantly forgetting it. But looks can be deceptive and The Sultan doesn’t do what you might think.
- 20 June 2004: Hogshead, Wimbledon
- Remember the 1990s. Ale pubs were the fashion - JD Wetherspoons were rising high, the Firkin pubs gave a microbrewery to many a high street and Hogshead were dispensing ale from the cask behind the bar.
- 19 June 2004: Need a professional logo?
- lodosinternational.co.uk proudly boasts that Turkish electrical equipment manufacturer Lodos is "Exceeding expectations in the home electronics industry"
- 19 June 2004: The Nick
- In Ealing Common is a road - it cuts through the common, although is a dead end. Quite often in the morning, there will be a series of film crews and trucks wandering around. But that’s nothing in comparison to what is right next door to our new place…
- 17 June 2004: Buying a House 1 - Scouting for areas
- For some time I’ve been meaning to write something about the house buying process and now I’ve finally got round to hitting the keys. So here we go with part one - the first steps.
- 17 June 2004: Bye Bye GDB3, Hello DT210F
- So after it being initially perfect and then very bad indeed, my Goodmans GDB3 DTT (Freeview) set top box went back to Argos last night.
- 16 June 2004: Seek and ye shall find?
- I’ve talked before about the weird things people search this site for but today I some odd ones in the Planet Bods search logs…
- 13 June 2004: Wires, boxes and other DIY news
- Earlier today was a trip to B &Q to buy some bits and bats, including a new bin and a towel rail. Exciting eh?
- 13 June 2004: Right Wing Conundrum
- Having just been looking at the vote breakdown on the London Elects website, I don’t know whether to be depressed that 3.04% of Londoners voted BNP in the Mayoral election or glad that the vote for the far right is not nearer 10% like in some parts of Europe…
- 12 June 2004: Flat Junk
- When you’ve moved in somewhere, the last thing you want to do is go back to your old rented pad and clean it all. Which is what we did today.
- 12 June 2004: The William Morris, Merton Abbey
- Nestling in the historic buildings of Merton Abbey Mills, this is a pub with much potential, but sadly fails to deliver as much as it could.
- 11 June 2004: More hits, RSS and Email Validation
- I was surprised to see the site hits go up 7000 last month,
a large number of people hitting my post about my recent RSS changes, and a
1000 referals from Mark Pilgrim’s Dive Into Mark site.
- 11 June 2004: Double Glazing
- It’s roasting hot outside. Why am I talking about double glazing?
- 9 June 2004: Set Top Box Woe
- Last September I bought (and raved about) a new Goodmans GDB3 set top box. It was a good box. Until a few months ago…
- 8 June 2004: Moving Fun
- The tide of boxes got moved last Friday and this entry is coming from the computer in our spare bedroom, which is surrounded by boxes, boxes and more boxes. From scruffy rented one bedroom flat to own smart split level maisonette. Well almost smart - it does need a few bits of paint touching up, but it’s certainly nice to be rid of all that dodgy rented furniture if nothing else.
- 2 June 2004: World of Boxes
- Friday is moving day and slowly but surely the flat is being filled into boxes. Big boxes, little boxes, medium sized boxes. Green boxes. White boxes. Etc etc.
- 1 June 2004: Londoners! Have Your Say!
- A rather good booklet dropped through my door today - explaining all about the forthcoming elections in London and for the European Parliament.
