30 April 2005: New look articles section
The articles section of this site has always been a bit of a mishmash. It liisted some articles by category and some just were dumped on the front page. So yesterday I redid it.
29 April 2005: Election Leaflets
With less than a week to go before the election, you have to ponder who to vote for. Well I haven’t met any of the candidates and I haven’t even seen them anywhere, although apparantly the Greens did a hustings session last week. So what about literature - the stuff shoved through the door.
28 April 2005: Into the Digital Age
When I worked at Bush House, it was a daily ritual. Just before going out, pick up a CD, bung it in my CD player and run out the door. One CD would generally last me door to door. But not any more.
27 April 2005: Alliance and Leicester - so incompetant you can’t even open an account with them
So the debit card has been cut, and the cheque book shredded. And that was before my current account transfer had been even completed to them.
26 April 2005: How to succeed in job interviews
What with redundancies and things, you may be surprised to find out that there aren’t that many promotion oppertunities for a hip, young, trendy dude like me (will you just stop laughing, PLEASE!)
24 April 2005: De-Hitoping
It must have been 1998 when I first used HTML pre-processor Hitop, and now seven years later, I’m beginning to say goodbye.
20 April 2005: We’re going to do WHAT?!
Is it really a year ago that the BBC’s statement of programme policy proclaimed that we’d launch something called QuickCodes on an unsuspecting world?
20 April 2005: Bye Bye Billboards
Just under a month ago, I mentioned the errection of two large, metal billboards on a small patch of grass right outside Colliers Wood tube station, next to the Brown and Root Tower. And now I write again.
19 April 2005: Memorise, Destroy
I open the enevelope and there’s my shiny new PIN complete with message telling me to destroy this slip and memorise my number.
17 April 2005: The Inner Circle
Back in November I mentioned a batch of cartoons I had found and was going to put online.
12 April 2005: Keep Me Away From Those Pies
Farmers markets are a dangerous place where I scour the place sampling, tasting, and thinking about how nice it would be to buy some of that stuff there, before hastily pulling myself back and saying, well yes, but what would you actually do with it?
11 April 2005: Silverlink Hell (part 2)
Badger people enough - and importantly be firm - and you might even get a proper answer to your question.
10 April 2005: Code Buzz
I spent most of the day messing with PHP, XML and Yahoo’s APIs to knock together a simple, pretty basic website search script for use on Catherine’s website. It’s not hugely complicated but it was all new stuff.
9 April 2005: You Cannot Put a Chicken On Your Head
Don’t you just love it when you contact a provider and say "Why am I not able to do this? What’s the logic in not being able to do it? It makes no sense."
9 April 2005: The Usability of Meeting Room Names
The usability of meeting room names is not something that has generally attracted much attention in this world, but perhaps it should if the BBC experience is anything to go by.
6 April 2005: Alliance and Leicester Internet Banking
Well I’ve used the internet banking services of a few banks so far, and none of them come close to sucking as much as Alliance and Leicester - they’re have become a shining example of how to frustrate and annoy at least one user. Me.
5 April 2005: SuperCeefax and BBCi Page Numbers
A friend who obviously has too much time on her hands pointed me to a discussion on Digital Spy’s forums where posters were asked the question, which is better - BBCi or Teletext?
5 April 2005: Planet Bods Network
over the last few days, Planet Bods has changed. The times of serious stuff about Mark and Lard, and pointless stuff involving cartoons of pipe smoking trees are other… Sort of.
3 April 2005: Silverlink Hell (part 1)
Every day I get the 0835 West London Line service from Clapham Junction to Wilsden Junction. Every day the train leaves the platform at 0835. Every day the train leaves the platform packed like a sardine tin - with people crushed into every available space in gross miscomfort.
2 April 2005: Ulysses 31
Mortals! You defy the Gods? I sentence you to travel among unknown stars. Until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.
