Entries from December 2005

31 December 2005: New Years Eve
Whoever you are, whereever you are, best wishes to you all, and remember - drink responsibly, certainly don’t get unlicensed minicabs home, and most of all remember that quadruple vodkas are never a good idea.
29 December 2005: Oliver Twist
This year the Library Theatre Company of Manchester put on Oliver Twist. And it was superb.
29 December 2005: Tube Strike Threat
Well with a tube strike on New Years Eve looking increasingly likely, it’s time to dig into the archives and just point you towards what I wrote back in August 2004 about The PR Of Strikes. Most of it’s relevant in this case with just a few minor changes here and there.
29 December 2005: Festive Tooth
When you have a temporary filling, it’s a good to avoid eating anything from a box of Thorntons scrummy Original Toffee. It’s an even better idea to not forget that you can’t chew on said toffee, on the right side of your mouth.
22 December 2005: Happy Christmas
So I’ve been in a pub before now where a brass band turned up playing carols, but never have I been in a pub where they brought a nonchelant sheep, a petrified looking pony and a vicar who lead an informal carol service. Well until tonight anyway!
22 December 2005: myCommute
Some time ago, I released myCommute out into the wild - a personalised way to view public transport travel updates from your PC, using the BBC’s Travel feeds.
19 December 2005: Christmas Decorations
If you’re not reading this in a newsreader then you may notice that the Christmas lights have gone up here at Bods’s Blog. I finally decided that I felt festive enough to put a little bit of reddish pixie dust on the old site, although it was a close run thing.
15 December 2005: Jumbucks. Just say NO
Quite frankly, the Jumbuck’s pie I ate this evening, was by far the blandest, most tasteless food I have ever, EVER eaten in my life. This wasn’t bad tasting. This was just non-existant tasting. It apparently had meat in it. I know cos I put some in my mouth. But it just tasted of, well nothing. It was is my tastebuds had gone on a hundred mile hike, and wouldn’t be back for another fortnight.
13 December 2005: God of Blogs
And a big hello to the God of Blogs, who apparently has been reading this here site, or so I was told today.
12 December 2005: Another Boring Post About Teeth
Vaguely tedious moaning about dental work.
6 December 2005: The BBCi Pandas
So I arrived back at work yesterday after my lazy week off, to find some new occupants at my old desk. Whilst I was away, it was decided my desk would be the new home for the BBCi pandas.
6 December 2005: BBC and blogs
So BBC News’s first ever proper mainstream blog launched today, as Nick Robinson’s Newslog appeared, cunningly hosted on on blogs.bbc.co.uk.
5 December 2005: Tours in BASIC and Python
The other week we went out for a walk with two friends, Jane and Jacko (who aren’t a couple - it’s just impossible to write two names without making it sound like they are) in Kent, and happened to pass by Lullingstone Roman Villa. Now looked after by English Heritage, the villa itself is inside a quite horrible green corrugated iron building. We didn’t go in, but I couldn’t help but spot the sign outside…
1 December 2005: Tube Trekking
The Babylon 5 Tube Tour never actually happened - it’s a bit difficult to do a tube tour that takes in just two stations (Morden and Arsenal). That’s not a tour. That’s just a single journey. But it gave the idea for something with just a bit more potential. A Star Trek themed tube tour. It launched on Planet Bods on 30 September 2001. And now it’s been completely redone.
