29 January 2008: The Changing Times of Ceefax, and Read Hear added to BBCi
Many of the pages in Ceefax have been a bit more fluid than people would often think. Pages come and pages go for all variety of reasons.
24 January 2008: No more free CustomFields for Movable Type users.
Oh poop. It appears that, with the release of Movable Type 4.1, one of the most useful plugins I’ve ever found for Movable Type - CustomFields - has become part of the MT “Professional Pack”, which means buying a licence then. Especially annoying given in its pre-Six Apart ownership, it was essentially donation-ware for personal users.
23 January 2008: Another missed TV show
The last couple of weeks I’ve had two infuriating moments. First was when I managed to screw up the timer on my PVR and as such, missed the first episide of the second series of Primeval on ITV1. The second was finding out that More4 started showing the sixth series of Curb Your Enthusiasm with barely a whisper.
22 January 2008: Lazy, Lazy, Lazy!
Why walk when you can get the lift a whole one flight of stairs?
17 January 2008: Save us from software that tries to be ‘clever’
The problem is all in the file names Blogger and Movable Type publish out to.
16 January 2008: Web Hosting Ideas?
When it comes to hosting, I’m a bit clueless (having never needed any) I thought I’d open the door to suggestions.
14 January 2008: No, I Didn’t Spam Anyone
Every now and then my email accounts suffer what I suspect many people who own domains do these days - log on to your email and find a couple of thousand emails saying ‘Message can’t be delivered’ or that kind of ilk.
14 January 2008: Get your testcards here
Yep, there’s a hidden testcard buried behind the hidden engineering page on the BBCi service on Freeview…
4 January 2008: Jellied Eels
Just had them for the first time after a work lunchtime visit to A Cooke’s pie and mash shop on the Goldhawk Road. Makes you wonder how something which looks so disgusting, can actually be so wonderfully tasty…
3 January 2008: Letters to the Editor: January 2008
Riffling through the bin of ridiculousness… Yes it’s time to answer more emails from the bulging post bag, and we had a batch delivered that were sent in 2005! Royal Mail’s getting better all the time.
3 January 2008: It’s all in the wording…
“Web icon set to be discontinued” screamed the headline from the pages of BBC News’s website.
