The Shed was born on 3 April 2005 as a new site within Planet Bods, putting together anything remotely pointless and silly and no doubt a waste of the web from the old Planet Bods.
PPlanet Bods was founded in 1997 by Andrew Bowden. Since then, the site has expanded dramatically, growing to include sections on Radio, TV, Comedy, Cartoons and more. In February 2000, Planet Bods merged with Catherine's Pages, the work of Catherine Redfern, expanding the site even more - much of which remains in The Shed to this day.
Most of The Shed is the work of two rather disturbed individuals.
Known as Bods, Andrew started writing in 1995 for the seminal (and sadly defunct) Hydra - student magazine of Hyde Clarendon College, Hyde, Greater Manchester. His first article was about deodrant.
After moving to study pint pulling in Durham, being a student radio DJ and being a Computer Officer for the Computing Society, he also found time to study Maths and even got a degree, inbetween founding this website in 1997.
Resisting the temptation to become an accountant, Andrew moved south to London, eventually joining the new media department of a well known broadcaster to build web pages in January 2000. In the summer of 2003 he decided to have a go at producing interactive television instead.
Whilst relaxing, Andrew enjoys drinking fine real ale, reading Terry Pratchett books and listening to John Peel and Mark and Lard on the wireless, whilst simultaneously moaning about the maddness of scrapping GLR, and just how could Radio One ditch Kevin Greening and Andy Kershaw.
Bods blogs over at his other site, Bods Central.
Catherine was editor of seminal student magazine Hydra - a job which consisted of sticking things together with Pritt Stick. She once tried Gloy Paste - an experience she has since tried to forget.
In 1996 she moved to Durham to study a BA in History and Lying Around In Bed All Day studies. In her spare time she did essays, went to the bar and ate French Fries, although not all at once.
After a year working London within the records centre of a well known alcohol related company, often in the same room as a large remote control toucan, she returned to university to do an MA in Archives and Records Management, before getting a job in the real world.
Catherine likes books and one day hopes to own a second hand bookshop with a tea shop attached to it, which would sell nice cakes. She also quite fancies the idea of a pub with a second hand bookshop attached. Finally, she likes Babylon 5, but thinks it should have more second hand book shops in the plot..
Catherine used to have her own website, called Catherine's Pages, but times move on, and she never got round to updating it, meaning the best stuff got merged into this site. Which was nice.
Catherine's current website is The F-Word, for the modern feminist.
David was so inspired by the seminal sixth form college magazine, Hydra, that he even considered forming a college magazine at his sixth form college. He didn't, therefore didn't need to take Catherine's advice about the Gloy Paste.
Co-writer of Get Out Of The Trench, Tony, David is Catherine's brother, and is a student type thing in Edinburgh.
